Ivoire by Balmain, a masterpiece brought up to date
Perfumery is a complex and constantly changing universe. What’s more, while some fragrances only last one season, others, on the other hand, have a much longer longevity. However, this does not prevent these masterpieces of perfumery from re-adapting and being modernized throughout their history. This is particularly the case with the Ivoire perfume by Balmain. Born in 1982, it was completely redesigned in 2012, as if to celebrate its 30th anniversary with dignity.
The story of Balmain’s cult perfume
Ivoire is considered to be one of the greatest perfumes of the house of Balmain . If this one is famous for its scent, it also has a symbolic part. Indeed, created in 1982 by Pierre Balmain, it was the very last juice produced by the creator before his death. Therefore, it adds a part of nostalgia to its remarkable composition. What is more, this perfume was originally developed in memory of a woman crossed by Pierre Balmain at the exit of the opera. Synonymous with beauty but also fleeting moment, Ivoire is a true concentrate of elegance. Charismatic and elegant juice, this one is endowed with a deep sensuality. To explain his creation, Pierre Balmain said:
“That’s the name I gave to a dream. The name of a woman of sovereign beauty, adorned with very pale silk. I passed her for a moment at the foot of the opera stairs before she disappeared into the night. I remember her hat and her perfume… ”
The romantic scent of ivory
The galbanum of yesteryear, on the other hand, has been preserved. Thus, Ivoire always fully assumes its green and biting flavor. This is nevertheless softened by the exotic presence of ylang-ylang. Finally, the ivory background is now more chypre. This combines patchouli, vetiver and cedar while enveloping them with a sweet touch of vanilla. Likewise, note that the ivory bottle has also been modernized. Still square in shape, he exchanged his scabbard for more transparency. Everything is, of course, presented in an ivory color. The rendering of this new visual is particularly modern.
Balmain perfumes decide to reinvent the legendary perfume of the house created in 1979:
